Unfortunately we had visitors that weekend. Can't make it to up there.
But you are always welcome to joint us later. I will get a few good wines ready for you.

Chi,

Excellent job!!.... I have taken Paul out of this email.

I just spoke to Paul telling him to join in my local friend's birthday party at this local Japanese rest on Friday night 7:30pm.

Paul have no idea that you are coming.

Make sure you get a pen and paper when you walk into the Japanese Rest, pretend to be the waitress and you can take my order first and then turn to Paul for his order.

Paul may clue in if he sees Matt...

Matt can you stay in the corner? or perhaps take spy video of Chi taking Paul's order.

Matt friend's Garfield can just join us at the table right away.

This will be fun!!

Henry.

PS. Hi ASS gang, like my secret plan? Hopefully Paul doesn't suspect what's going on.

The plan didn't go too well.

All the way to Van we were stuck in the traffic in the pouring rain. We got there in 5 hours instead of the usual 3 1/2 hours drive.

By the time we got there, Matt lost the sprit to play. So I had to run my way to the restaurant a head of Matt and his friend.

I had to remember to remove my glasses. As I got in, I had a tough time to find Henry and trying to catch my breath. But I can tell from Paul expression he knew me right away. He was trying to confirm with Pauline, Pauline just pretend she had no idea who the hell am I?

So I had to put on a tough act which was a lousy one for Paul according to him. I finally speak out in Hakka. He was very surprised that I showed up. So much fun!!

Its so good to see another long lost friend again. I am still soaking up all that feeling.

Henry and Donna were such a great friends, great person to allow the ASS to have such an great experience to happened in the other half of our life. Hope we didn't trash their house again!!

Love you two!!

So you ransacked the Wong Castle again!?

No pix of the reunion?

Sorry guys... so no footage of actual moment.. but here's some pictures of the Wanton Waitress.

See how Chi becomes Su Lee (See Chopstick) when see sit next to Paul?.

Poor Garfield, professor for gifted kids (Guess which one is Matt's friend) - flew in from Washington DC, Kidnap from Seattle airport at 3:00pm, smuggled across Canadian Border, finally ate dinner at 9:00pm and Kong out on my office floor while we party at 120 Decibel inches away.

Paul left Vancouver 4 hours ago.... now probably holding on Kwan Yee's arm crying... never leave me alone with those Asses.

Sat, after long hard persuasion, Paul stayed for a night. We had Opra moment, Dr. Phil session...pouring our heart to each other. Tears and laughter till 3am. Matt ZZZzzz on the side. The next day, Matt saw Paul sleeping in the living room floor. He thought of snuggle up to him and said"butter cup, this is your lucky day". Second though, Paul has black belt.

The last day, Paul was telling us some X-rated stories..???

Donna brought out durian. Paul almost die smelling them.

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart, for your sincere friendship, the kind of friendship that I will never be able to replace, no amount of treasure can purchase.
When I was with you, I experienced the sincere warmth and care. You helped me to remember my past life in K.K. My life is now complete. There are no missing parts.
Life is full of challenges, I don’t know where my life’s journey will take me, but I do know one thing for sure, I have a group of friends that I can share my experience with.

Henry & Donna:

You are a fantastic host, Hotel Seaforth is really the best hotel in the world.
I am glad I slept over on Saturday night, enjoying the conversation with you and Chi.
until the wee hours in the morning. It was really fun to listen and share our life experiences together.

Chi & Matt:

Never judge a book by its cover is the lesson I learnt from you.

My impression of Matt from the e-mails and videos was he is a party animal,
loves to drink, loves to take off his pant in public places to show off his white butt and
like to swear in Chinese at every opportunity. I know you still love to do all the above.:-))
I am pleasantly surprise to discover the other side of Matt. The very intelligent, goals orientated, and a family man. Chi he is a fine gentleman and you are a very lucky woman is very sense of the word. J . I am very happy for you.

Chi and Matt, thank you for driving all the way from Seattle and taking your friend
from Washington, D.C. with you. I appreciate it very much for your planned surprise
at the restaurant. You got me there for sure. That was very sweet of you and the others
who helped planned it.

Pauline, thank you very much for taking time off your busy schedule to come meet up with us for lunch and dinner on Friday, and also spending the entire afternoon on Sunday.
I appreciate it; especially you had prior engagement that weekend.
I enjoyed your company very much. You are still as sweet and as beautiful as you were in Form 1 & 2. The 1998 reunion had really brought the Ass classmates closer together. I am glad I am now benefiting from it.

Pauline, I truly believe 90% of one's happiness or miseries depends on the person we are married to. Wally loves you so much and always put you first.
I think you are very lucky, the rest really does not matter.

Well, it is late, and I will sign for now. Take good care everyone and thank you again for the fabulous time.

Your life has become so much richer because you know you have friends in every corner of the globe who not only take you for who you are, but also watch out for you. Paul,
Thank you for the kind words. My impression of you before the Vancouver trip was that Saturday
Night Fever dancing gigolo from the Reunion video. After many deep and humorous conversions this past weekend, I discovered you are a truly enjoyable person to be around.
When Paul spoke, his stories at times brought forth a sense of happiness in the group like when you find a naked man all alone handcuffed to a tree in a forest. At other times, Paul's stories created such excitement among us, it was like the feeling that grabs you when you call in sick to work and then drive across town to have hot sex with your boss's wife. Finally, Paul's sad tales made us feel rage and indignation like when you go to your mistress's home one evening for lobster and then find out the next day that she also served you a side order of crabs.
Here's to you Paul -- bright and golden, pointed toward the sky -- Our Delicate Winnipeg Buttercup.

Matt

P.S. Pauline, a few buttercups will cover up that cleavage.
P.S.S. Eve and SuLee, see what fun awaits you in the US and Canada.

Some of you in kl may know of Dama Orchestra, a 20yrs+ group. used to be only known by the chinese community but today it's no stranger to the expats, the embassy, the hoteliers, the bankers and the non-chinese speaking crowd.

well, i'm doing a small part in this musical drama as the mother of ying-tai. some of u may be familiar with this story - butterfly lovers (or , liang-shan-bo and zhu-ying-tai in mandarin). it's about this girl, ying-tai disguised as a man (like Mu-Lan) as she aspired to go to school but women were not allowed so during that period. she has fallen in love with her classmate, shan-bo but her parents had engaged her to another rich family. she wont' buldged in and she joined shan-bo who had already passed away in misery and both of them transformed into butterflies and no one could ever stop them from being together forever....i would say it's a heart-felt love story with a touch of feminsim.

fyi, for those who know nothing of mandrain, do not worry, english and chinese sub-titles are projected.

hmm.. though the originality of the lyrics remain (in mandarin), the music has been rearranged by two sisters (both are PHD in music, n one is in UK and the other in KL n yet they have managed to give birth to such a wonderful piece) and now the music is so beautiful that you should not miss it......with touch of contemporary and old-styled. trust me, you sure like it. so, do not expect operaic-type of performance, cos' it's not.... also, fyi, i'm the only cast dont sing, ha2!! as they are all professional + amateurs singers but not me lah...

and.....you know what the costume designer is a french lady and our producer, kai loon speaks only english n no mandarin at all!! what a team!!

for those who do not know KLPac (or KL Performing Arts Centre):this cosy theatre hall is rather well-designed, even if you get the least expensive tickets sitting at the far end, you'll still guarantee good view of the whole stage.

so, peter, plse being your wife along. i'm very sure she'll like it. cheers..for those who are in kl, hope to see you there...

Paul,
Maybe you want to spend more time with your kids (I mean adult children) ... You’ll never know what you can find out about them.

Rita’s son knew what “Da fee kee” meant and Rita kept asking him how he knew... where he learnt it from... who told him... etc. I didn’t hear her ask “have you done it” though (G)

Exhibit A

Naik Darah = Rising Blood = Rising Blood Pressure

In no way does Exhibit A imply any suggestion of Anger or Erection.

Alright.......let's just go right to the internet to see about Rising Blood Pressure. (Nice touch, Researcher Wong - using red fonts for Blood). I've attached the explanation for Male Erection which describes how high blood pressure helps sustain the erection.

As for "Anak Angkat" - perhaps that means "pregnant woman".

Murtabak Sing,

Anak Angkat means “adopted child”. And “Love Child” is “Anak Luar Nikah”

Akat Nikah is the traditional Malay ceremony where the wedding vows are made, just like the church wedding for Christians.

The “Bersanding” ceremony is similar to the Chinese Tea Ceremony where the bride and grroom are introduced to family members, friends and the whole village. The couple would sit on their wedding thrones or a special wedding pavilion in the house and friends and family take turns to give their blessings.

Asnimar, am I right?

Hope this helps just in case you may be considering starting a second family (G)

Exhibit A

Naik Darah = Rising Blood = Rising Blood Pressure

In no way does Exhibit A imply any suggestion of Anger or Erection.

SAFE Beach Party versus DANGEROUS Durian

THE DESIGN CONCEPT:

ASS Class of '73 are going to "Balek Kampong" this August for probably the last big reunion to celebrate their big 50th Birthday together. The party will probably last a week or two in Kota Kinabalu, and judging from the last reunion in '98, no other ASS class can compare to this bunch of party animals who were still looking for action long after the KOK and night clubs have closed, night after night. In school they were the noisiest, most rowdy, yet scored the best grades, earned medals during sports days, represented All Saints School and Sabah state in various things. Our class is surely the most adventurous, being scattered around the world like no other before or after us. So the logo should encapsulate this spirit of being a "party animal", adventurous and fun loving, courageous, enigmatic and mysteriously different from other ASS classes. Yet we are proud of where we originate from - our humble beginnings from a small town. In many ways we are like the durian - the King of fruits. This upcoming reunion is more than just a homecoming, but likened to going on holiday in another world, a planet of our own. Hence the concept: ASS Planet 50.

On 6/30/06 1:37 PM, "Peter V. Y. Lo" wrote:

OK Guys n Dolls,

I never thought I would have to rationalise the ID logo for a reunion party (seems so ridiculous, doesn't it - when we have better things to do). (G)

If you must have it here it is:

We are talking about a singular LOGO not a MOVIE or a 20-chapter Harry Potter story about our lives. ... So which logo truly represents the person / image you want for yourself?

THE RATIONALE FOR BOTH LOGO DESIGNS:

Logo A (beach fun) -
Clean, law abiding, safe for children, no surprises, honest to goodness. Tend to take the tried and test route in life, no dirt, no risk, no need to imagine. Tend to think inside the box, don't try anything new. Try to please everybody, be nice to everyone at all times. Always meet up at the same coffeeshop and talk about/reminisce the same old hippy, lovvy-duvvy, stuff. Moralistic and heaven-bound to the point of self righteousness. I take myself seriously so don't joke around with me. Why try a new way when the old way has worked for generations? Things will always be the same - the beach, islands etc. will always be there for me. I am happy and contented being anonymous in a crowd, where they lead I will follow.

Logo B (Durian)
Enigmatic and mysterious on the outside, you don't know what's on the inside. Definitely proud of his/her roots because durian doesn't grow in Mat Salleh country. People yearn to try the fruit but will never know until you open up the inside and taste it, so to know me is to try me. I'm unpredictable, can achieve the kind of success in life which will even surprise my own parents. People who know me tend to love me, so I attract adventurous, exciting and exotic people just like myself. I can be totally lovable and I can be pungent so be careful with me because I am an enigma to the world. I'm a party animal I always stand out from the crowd.

Ten years from now when we are 60, our grandchildren will probably pick up the CD ROM and ask you why the logo. You can answer "because me and my classmates are like this... " (refer explanation for Logo A or Logo B above).

Some of us can fit comfortably with both concepts, so it's down to tossing a coin. Have fun... (G)

Please send me the higher resolution format that I could forward to the fridge magnet makers to copy exactly. Maybe send me something that can be cropped to fit into the fridge magnet size that we want them to produce. I plan to use Adobe Photoshop to manipulate the image. Is that OK?
